A Pelvis-Centered Life

Where is your wisdom seated?

When the mind is in charge, we are top heavy. We act quickly and for short-term gain. Our necks extend beyond our shoulders, vigilant in our search for danger and new FOMO possibilities. It’s a posture rife with negative consequences for our bodies and the world.

In response to this imbalance, we are told to go to the heart. That’s closer to what we need, but the medicine that expands the tinny limits of the thinking mind is raw, earthier.

Let’s descend the spine and go to the place where life begins.

Seated in the throne of the pelvis, we find our true fulcrum. Here, action is received rather than done. Here, we must patiently wait until experience becomes sensation that tickles its way down into our darkest places.

When the sensation penetrates us fully, if we are skilled, we wait more. We warm the experience in the sacred triangle touching our guts, thighs, and pleasure until our movement is ready to emerge in the world.

But like all things borne from this bony cave, this child is not ours to own. Any pelvis-centered action is a source of life, sure to dance freely around its world, making its own mistakes and corrections.

But even at its worst, action from this place is always genius. The other? It’s a roll of the dice we can no longer risk.
